This article slightly confused me. The author of it seemed to be criticizing the general public for not appreciating art appropriately or taking enough time to actually look at and analyze art. But, later in the article, he also discusses how artists don’t really define a single way of observing art as being the right one. According to artists the right way to look at art is with an open mind and patience; there is no mention of any type of time constraint. I wasn’t sure if the write of the article was trying to sway his readers to look at art more carefully and for longer periods of time, to look with more of an open mind and with more patience, or just merely making a statement about today’s culture and how it differs from that of people in the 18th or 19th centuries.
