These pieces are astonishing. The amount of detail and color that went into such small trinkets is amazing. The idea that these belonged to a Roman Sorceress is very fascinating and sparks the imagination. Did these people visit the sorceress as a way to help bring good fortune or good health? Or did these people shame these individuals like the Americans did to the accused “witches” during the Salem Witch Trials. It is amazing that an artist was able to put so much detail in such a small stone or gem. My favorite picture in this article is the one of what seems to be a translucent rock with a womanly figure engraved in it. It was extremely hard to take my eyes of these magnificent images.

These objects are really quite amazing. The pure fact that it’s simply a treasure trove of beautiful mystery objects is really fascinating. The color and detail that was put into them is amazing. To claim that they belonged to a “sorceress” is very debatable however. As we have seen with the Salem Witch Trials, there is no way to prove that these indeed were used in supernatural activities, although I suppose it could be possible. Whatever the reason, they are fascinating to look at and speculate their usage.

These are very intricate and beautiful objects. I found it fascinating that archaeologists are working on establishing the context/meaning of these objects through DNA analysis. By analyzing the relationship of the 10 different people in the room through DNA analysis, they may gain insight into the purpose of these objects and how they were used.

These object are very interesting, they seem like valuable objects that would have been sold in the Pompeii market. The artifacts in this picture are colorful and detailed. They look like the type of artifacts that would be used for decoration, good luck, jewelry, and dining. I am surprised that these artifacts have not melted during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. These are overall, a lot of interesting artifacts that have given me a new lesson in the history of Pompeii.

Pompeii is truly a city frozen in time. The amount of backstory archaeologists were able to uncover about the objects is astonishing. Based on the fact that none of the objects were made of gold, they were able to infer that they belonged to a servant or a lower-class citizen.

It is amazing that archeologist were able to find religious artifacts that survived the volcano as well as the ash. These were possibly carried by everyone or a certain group of people. You can see the practice that went into it and the detail or love that these were crafted with. These people and their religon are forever at a stand still never to be moved again or seen. It is amazing how these were found and how they were praised. These people might not have a voice anymore but we are still able to hear them loudly.

I simply cannot believe that these items survived Pompeii. Any time I hear about or see an artifact from Pompeii I am amazed. These pieces are so detailed and small, and look as though they are beads used for jewelry. The pieces also demonstrates Pompeii’s love of color and art. I hope that even more artwork from Pompeii is found so that the world can admire its beauty.

The objects that were recovered remind me a lot of jewelry. With the small intricate pieces, the vibrant colors, I can picture that some of these may have been used to accessorize back in Pompeii. I also noticed that there are also small figures of people; perhaps they were used for good luck?

Looking at the pieces, each one looks like an intricate trinket or piece of jewelry. Reading the article I love how they refer to these as the sorcery items. That to me kind of just matches how these pieces are magical just to look at. Just thinking about the time period that these were made and how it came from such a historic place in history, not just for Roman culture but for the whole world. Once piece that I find especially magical is the little glass amulet with the dancing satyr. It is just so amazing how they can depict a person dancing inside a thin piece of glass at a time where the technology isn’t advanced compared to today.

The objects excavated in Pompeii are without doubt extraordinary. They look like objects of everyday life in the female world and they are helpful to reveal the biographies of the inhabitants of this city and who tried to escape the eruption. I am amazed at what the females in Pompeii use to wear or use because they are rare priceless objects. They were preserved so that modern archaeologists could reveal what beautiful belongings they had and what stories they could reveal about those who were buried by the massive eruption.

So many pieces of art and everyday life were able to be preserved in Pompeii, a city that was frozen in time, including these objects. It’s especially interesting to me that because none of them were made out of gold, it is assumed that they do not belong to the elite but rather women who were servants or slaves. Some included the Egyptian scarab beetles that were thought to protect pregnant women and their children. These reminded me of the Woman of WIllendorf, as it is also a small object that would have belonged to women and common people, and although the meaning is unknown it could have brought luck to women or specifically pregnant women.

It is amazing that theses objects survived and it seems with minimal damage. That bluish, teal color is beautiful and I wonder if that is made of stone or painted. The glass object is amazing and so impressive, it is beautiful and I bet it too a long time to make that. Some of the objects are a little creepy though, like the skull or one of the dolls. Some of the objects look like they could have been used for jewelry like maybe a bracelet or put one on a string and make it a necklace.

What I like seeing about this is the changes in craftsmanship over time. These objects show the ability of some craftsmen at the time and show off stories about the time. Even though these were created around 2000 years ago, the craftsmanship ability was still high. It just shows that in any point in history and any location, there are always people who are specialized or interested in certain subjects. Whether it be science, architectural design, craftsmanship, or whatever else it may be, there are always people interested in learning and becoming masters at their craft.

The pieces were extremely amazing. They were kept in a small box with bronze buckles, implying importance of some kind to the owner. As it spoke in the article, the items did not contain any gold, meaning they were not owned by an elite, but a slave possibly . This meaning that these items were probably extremely important, probably passed down from relatives or given by a close family member to provide protection of I assume the woman who owned these items. All of these items are extremely intricate and impressive to be saved and kept during this age.

It is amazing that these pieces have survived. These pieces are so tiny and portray Pompeii’s passion when it came to art. I think that it is really cool when pieces that do not have much expectation to survive do so.
