I would love to visit an archaeological site like this. I find structures like this tomb very interesting. It is also very fascinating that people once used these structures. It is remarkable that the Mycenaeans were able to create a structure so spectacular with the technology available at the time. Moreover, it is interesting that there is evidence of trade with Egypt.
The most interesting part of these structures for me is how they were built with such limited technology. Same goes for structures such as the pyramids of Egypt, Stone Henge, etc. The structural integrity and detail, along with the simple weight of the materials becomes even more impressive when thinking about how old they are and the limited simple tools they had to achieve it.
This cite is a very valuable location indeed. With hope of allusion to trade and large deposits of art and wealth, this cite provides insight to archeologists about the history of this civilization. Funding of digs can often become an obstacle to further excavation. Hopefully there will be enough monetary contribution to further this search.
I find it very fascinating that the people of this time figured out how to make architecture bee-hive shaped. I would think this discovery would require modern tools and calculations, and though these tombs collapsed I still find it interesting they figured this out. It would have been very cool to see these tombs in person before they collapsed, and would have been even cooler to see these tombs during the time frame that they were built. I also love seeing the excavations of civilizations/areas like the Dimopoulos field and wondering what they looked like in their prime.
To visit this tomb would be fascinating. It is amazing how the people figured out how to not only make the shape but also make it in such a large scale. The architectural knowledge it takes to build this type of structure is very impressive. I can imagine standing in the center of it and looking at the rounded ceiling in awe, especially at the time it was created with the gold-lined ceiling.
It is extremely cool and interesting that from a tomb how much information was able to be exposed. We the people have learned so much about the Mycenaean based off artifacts and structures found by archaeologists that have help prove and expose what life was like back then. Finding such little things like amber made beads or a golden pendant that is an Egyptian goddess tell us that Pylos had connections to the outside world and also had the means to pay for these luxurious goods. This implying that as a city they were thriving and doing well. All in which this information was extracted from Tombs from long ago with no written evidence.
Visiting this monument would be an amazing opportunity to see how things were built without the use of modern technology. I’ve learned so much about the Mycenaeans and how their building style is much more aggressive and seen as being battle-ready than the Minoans. But its also amazing that the structure remains standing and in very good condition.
It is amazing that the Mycenaeans had the technology to be able to build round structures. I would love to visit these tombs. The Mycenaeans always have fascinated me.
I think it was very impressive that they were able to build these tombs without modern technology. I’m also surprised the tombs are in such good condition for their age.
It was interesting to see the link of these civilizations as well as their building techniques. Gold and gold lining was discovered inside of the tomb and it was fascinating to make connections between this article and the material that we learned.
I think structures like this are fascinating because it just shows the evolution humans have had over time with building structures. Recreating this Mycenaean tomb gave great insight to have advanced they were back then with the limited tools they had. In addition, still showing their culture from displaying structure and the layout.
I find recreations like this very important because it shows the evolution of architecture through different locations and over time. The more architecture we find the more insight it gives to us in modern time to either learn from or to know more about. In addition, this recreation also shows off Mycenaean culture again and what they valued through their style.
I knew tombs were important in cultures like the Egyptians, but I did not know that they were important enough to line with gold in Greece. It’s interesting to see how the art in Greece changed over the years. The materials have evolved from rocks and stones, like what this tomb is made out of, to marble and other materials. It’s interesting that they thought that this tomb may have had trading purposes because I didn’t think that that is what most tombs are used for.
A room decorated with gold foiling, WOW! I am sure this tomb is such a beautiful place to visit. I think it’s crazy how this discovery could change the idea of Mycenaean culture and raises more questions about the city’s importance.
The part of the tombs which interests me the most is how much Mycenaean culture is represented in their architecture. The creativity that went in with their architecture is amazing. Especially since they used their creativity to not necessarily be meant to show off or be extravagant, but for a more personal purpose. The structure of the tomb is also interesting considered the level of technology at the time.
This is a great article! It amazes me how new artifacts found can tell us even more about civilizations and ancient cultures. The pendant of the Egyptian goddess, Hathor, is beautiful, and it is so interesting that this and other artifacts suggest trade. I hope to one day see ancient art like this in person.
Having an opportunity to be a room with gold foil like this place would be amazing and breath taking. It’s amazing how people with limited access to building made something like this and still be standing today. We have learned so much about the Mycenean civilization and having more artifacts and building like this being discovered really completes the puzzle even more.
It’s a shame we’ll never be able to see the dazzling gold work that used to be here. Perhaps it’s a bit speculative but I can only dream of what intricate sculptures inlay the gold coverings inside. The resources available to the Mycenaean civilization in order to construct a building like this must have been profound.
The Mycenaean architecture is very impressive and for how long ago it was built it is so incredible how they built these tombs. Not only the architecture but then all the cool artifacts found in the tomb is super interesting.
It is fascinating that they can link the items found in both of these tombs to trading with Egypt and the Near East. The other interesting fact about the Minoan artifacts found in these tombs were that they were an integral part of a warrior’s culture. It goes on to show how artifacts found in places such as tombs, give us a better understanding of culture and how society functioned.

I think it’s cool how they discover tombs through out the decades and how big these tombs are. The Griffin Warrior looked really cool also
